Celebrity Chef Chuck Hughes stirs up his Malaysian fans

Canadian host and chef Chuck Hughes has plenty reasons to smile about, and no, it's not the durian he was asked to try when he was in Malaysia recently! As part of his 'A Day Off With Chuck Hughes' tour, Chuck had the time to sight-see and try our Malaysian dishes, like the mee goreng, which he finds 'not spicy enough'. When reporters ask, what food do his people have during Winter time, Chuck replied, "turkey, lamb, potatoes and beef. But up north, they take whale meat, not for me, but for them, which has been a way of life for centuries."
Thankfully, we didn't get any of that during a private session with Chuck one afternoon.
When we asked him about his favourite music he listens to while cooking, he answered: "The Black Keys and Jack Johnson when I cook. But in the restaurant, I'll mix it up with some Metallica and Wu Tang Clan." He laughed, "Yeah I know most customers will go I can't hear you! But why come to the restaurant then?" Point taken.
