Movie Review: “Puss in Boots”

This is the legendary tail of Puss in Boots.

Puss in Boots Review (© UIP)

Director: Chris Miller

Who is in it: Antonio Banderas, Salma Hayek, Zach Galifianakis, Billy Bob thornton, Amy Sedaris

What it is about: Puss in Boots stumbles upon an irresistible chance to reconcile with childhood friend Humpty Dumpty. He sets off on an adventure with the mastermind egg that can never get back up on his feet on his own and super slick Kitty Softpaws. When the mission is over, truth begins to unravel and Puss finds himself locked out from the world.

Why we like it: Apart from how cool fighting swordskittens that can land on their feet after an extremely high ninja jump, Puss in Boots is very much likeable for yes its adorable doe-eyes. The animation is interesting because we get told of the origins of Puss in lieu of him being just an adorable character in "Shrek."

Why we don't: It is slightly draggy at times and humour is limited; perhaps the doe-eyed Puss was oversold.

Verdict: An enjoyable watch as long as you keep your expectations low. A few shifts in your seat and the movie will be over; at least it wasn't superbly predictable.
