Chef Wan's son, Chef Riz - who is also a judge on MasterChef Malaysia - has been slammed for overstating his CV and making false claims about his career.

Chef Riz, the youngest judge on the show, claimed to have been a "Chef de Cuisine" at celebrity Chef Mario Batali's Italian flagship restaurant Babbo in New York. He also made claims about being a "sous-chef" at Le Bernardin under Chef Eric Ripert. Both claims have been denied by Mario Batali's communications director and a Le Bernardin publicist.

Referring to his son's situation, Chef Wan wrote on his Facebook wall, "Morning I could not sleep all night after the NBC America Today show when I was told about the new of my son overstated his working experience abroad when none of that is true on the MasterChef Profile in his CV. I told him not only this is embarrassing for him likewise for me and the family but now he must apologised to the public and accept his unwise behaviour and face the consequences."

Chef Riz has since apologised and changed his profile on the "MasterChef" Malaysia website. Shooting for the series is scheduled to continue until the end of the year.

The latest update on Chef Wan's Facebook status reads, "No doubt what my son did was absolutely wrong...we are human being and of course I want him to be given a second chance. Astro try to balance the show by adding a young chef like my son who has the passion for cooking and can be and WILL BE SUCCESSFUL."

Are Chef Riz's actions of overstating his CV forgivable? Should "MasterChef" Malaysia go on? What do you think of Chef Wan's reactions? Speak to us! We would love to hear from you!

Are Chef Riz's actions of overstating his CV forgivable? No way is it forgivable. Even though he is young but he is also old enough to understand the consequences of his actions. He deceived both the public and his employers to get what he wanted and that is not right in anybody's books. Did he think that he could get away with this just because both the restaurants he claimed to have worked for is based overseas??

Should "MasterChef" Malaysia go on? Yes absolutely. We can unearth new talents and it is good for the country.

What do you think of Chef Wan's reactions?? Chef Wan's reactions was justified. He is an internationally acclaimed chef and celebrity. Did Chef Riz even think of what would happen to his father's reputation when he did such an act or did he think he could get away with it  because of his father's status??

Just as any other employer, Astro should just replace him and hire someone else that is honest for the integrity of the show. We don't want the results of the show to be laced with bad comments, controversies and have the world doubt the ability of our chef's.

he should resign n drop out from being a judge...as he has gotten the position by falsifying his cv.. in most cases if one falsify a cv in a company, he or she would automatically be fired rite, there fore its no difference here...

Whether he is sorry or ask for forgiveness, etc, irregardless, Riz has to excuse himself from the show. Producers, drop him off. The "Bolehland" must not be embarrassed, not this way. If he is a kitchen helper, different story. Now lay low, go work in the "warungs" and work your way up again, hopefully this will be an expensive lesson for you.

Overstating CV with purposely intendion to secure the position & convincing the public, seen to us is very an ethical misconduct and unprofessional. At this point, i personal doubt with the other chef status. It seem to the public that ASTRO are not filtering on proper that normally applied by engage parties, which referring for referral as to confirmed the statement made by chef Riz.

But on the others side of it, we shall consider about chef Riz career since him is still young and his potential future as world class chef!

In my personal opinion, chef Riz shall be responsibilities on his statement made and apologies to involve parties as to the public specially to his fans.

And most probably as to indicate his serious fraud statement, a penalized should be implied, just as a serious reminder to him and others. Finally what i strongly belief with this case will educate others to be more sincere and responsible in making an statement.

With all the best!

It is shameful and dishonest to overate one's cv especially coming from the family of Chef Wan. Chef Riz besides making a public apology should resign as judge as he has lost his credibility as a chef let alone a judge.
