(Relaxnews) - Nicolas Cage will join a dream team of 80s action heroes in the third chapter of The Expendables.
Nicolas Cage's presence was confirmed by producer Avi Lerner in an interview with Totalfilm.com. Clint Eastwood, Wesley Snipes, and Harrison Ford have also been asked to join the all-star cast.
Avi Lerner plans to bring back Mickey Rourke from the first movie as well as all the action heroes from the second, namely Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, Jet Li, Chuck Norris, Jean-Claude Van Damme, Bruce Willis, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Liam Hemsworth and Dolph Lundgren.
Launched in 2010, the Expendables franchise bridged the gap between action stars past and present in a story about a team of mercenaries on a mission to overthrow a South American dictator.
Directed by Simon West, the sequel to the first movie is currently being released in theaters around the world.
