Australian physicist cheats death and lives to tell harrowing tale of survival

Australian physicist Marni Sheppeard shouldn't be alive, but thanks to a determination to survive, she is. Her story will be featured on Discovery Channel's 'I Shouldn't Be Alive', premiering on June 19th at 9pm.
Marni's ordeal happened a few years ago when she and friend Sonja Rendall went on a 3-day hike in Arthur's Pass National Park. As they were making their way home for Christmas and found their path was blocked by ice, Marni and Sonja took a detour.
What has started to be a steep slope quickly became a sheer cliff that left Sonja clinging to a rock by her fingertips. The girls miraculously fought - and won - to survive on a tiny rock ledge under harsh weather conditions.
We had a chat with Marni to talk about her incredible and terrifying experience, plus got her advice on what to do in a life and death situation.
Marni's episode of 'I Shouldn't Be Alive' premieres on Discovery Channel (Astro Channel 551) on June 19th at 9.00pm
