‘American Idol’ S10 finalist Thia Megia stops by Malaysia to talk Idol and the future

'American Idol' Season 10 finalist Thia Megia had us floored after the young Californian singer belted out Adele's 'Someone Like You' (don't believe us? Watch and judge for yourself here), so what's in store for this young lass?

The 17-year-old Californian is keen to get into acting and hopes to release an album soon, plus maybe squeeze in an audition for 'Glee' in between.

Read on to see what Megia had to say about her time on 'American Idol' and who she's rooting for this season.

What's in store for 2012?
This is my first Asian tour. I was in Taipei, Manila, Bali-Indonesia and Jakarta and this (Malaysia) is my last stop. After this I'll be doing a few performances in L. A (Los Angeles) and I'll be doing a concert tour with Blue Eyes, Kimberly Caldwell (Check) and Eliott Yamin and this will be in Branson, Missouri. I am writing my own music so hopefully I'll be getting an album out this year.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years' time?
Definitely, I'll be travelling a lot more and I love doing this (tour). It's great meeting new people and learning new languages and new cultures and just being able to meet my fans from different parts of the world. So definitely I want to do more of this. You know, getting an album out. Probably finishing college and maybe start an acting career or being a part of one. I definitely have so much in plan.

Can you talk about the acting thing?
When I was 10 I joined the Talent convention in L.A. I won 'Best Child Actress of the Year'. I have taken a few acting classes when I was younger. I have been in a few plays and it's something that I enjoy doing. It's just that in the last few years I have been focusing on my music and I've considered going back into acting. I definitely love watching films, and every time I watch films I focus more on how the actor shows his expressions through his acting abilities rather than just the story or the whole plot of the film. But that's just me. I have been considering it.

What about 'Glee'?
I may be auditioning sometime soon, maybe this year or end of this year. I have been considering it. I do want to be more flexible with my career. I love singing but I would love to involve myself in other things like acting and writing.

What would you say is your stand out moment being on 'American Idol'?
People definitely thought my stay was short on the show. If they knew how many rounds we had to go through, it's actually a long process. I am just thankful to have made it that far. I was able to travel to so many different places in the world. I met a lot of amazing people. I got to do the Idol Tour. The whole experience was just awesome. It would have been nicer to have made it farther but like I said it's not the last of me.

It was awesome. I love Michael Jackson and he's always been one of my biggest idols. The finale, Beyonce medley performed where we got to perform with Beyonce. The competition was over and it was all fun, no more pressure. I loved that experience and Beyonce, I have always been a huge fan of hers. Through meeting her, I loved her even more. It was an honour. Those two are definitely my favourites.

Who is your personal idol?
Definitely Michael Jackson because he's just amazing. He just inspires others. He was the world. There are very few artists like him.

What song represents your journey as a singer?
Let's see. As corny as it sounds, 'The Climb' by Miley Cyrus. You know, I can almost see it. It really is a climb; it is a steep climb up the hill. But, in the end it's worth it. It's always going to be tough trying to make it, but just keep going. There's plenty of songs but that the first one I had in mind.

Is anything going to stop you now?
No! Never! There may be times in which I feel stressed or sometimes I doubt myself but nothing will ever stop but I will keep going.

Are you watching the new season? Do you have a favourite?
I am. My two friends are my favourites. Holly Cavanagh and Jessica Sanchez. I won't say who is going to win it. They are both my friends. I am rooting for both of them.
