Young aspiring singer versus jaded chorus girl – who will take the part of Marilyn Monroe on the musical stage?
Steven Spielberg teams up with the Oscar-winning producers of "Chicago" and songwriters of "Hairspray" to create this musical drama with a cast that includes Emmy-winner Debra Messing and Oscar-winning actress Anjelica Houston. Songwriters Julia (Debra Messing, "Will & Grace") and Tom (Christian Borle, "Legally Blond: The Musical") are cooking up a musical about the life of Marilyn Monroe - who, though, will play America's beloved blonde bombshell?
Enter "American Idol" veteran Katharine McPhee as Karen, a simple Iowa girl with dreams of stardom on the big stage. With talents as big as her dreams, she catches the attention of everyone -- including Ivy Lynn (Megan Hilty), a jaded chorus girl who will let nothing (and no one) stand in the way of her long-overdue turn in the spotlight.
Uma Thurman also joins the cast of "Smash" as a guest star, playing a famous movie star out to sink her hooks into the meaty role of Marilyn.
"Smash" premieres 19th March, Mondays at 9pm/8pm THAI-JKT on Diva Universal (Channel 702).
