This award-winning actress takes another step further in her booming career with this new travelogue, "Zhang Ziyi Travel Series". As the global ambassador for Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts, Zhang has managed to experience an array of different cultures and the wonders of Mother Nature through this documentary. This joint-aim between Shangri-La and the National Geographic Channel has indeed produced a must-watch for travelers worldwide.
Q: What are the objectives of this project and its impact on you?
A: The goal for this National Geographic filming project is to travel to different cities and different countries within one year. So far, I’ve been to Mongolia and the desert in Middle East. The greatest experience for me from this project is the connection I felt with nature and all the wonderful wild animals.
Q: What are some unforgettable moments during your trip?
A: Thanks to Shangri-La’s sponsorship of this National Geographic project, we had the opportunity to travel to the Middle East to learn about the protection of sea turtles and see thousands of dolphins swimming in the ocean. Through this project, I am now able to fully appreciate everything that nature provides to us in our daily lives. This trip has helped me realize how much nature gives to us and the importance of protecting the environment.
Q: What was interesting about studying the sea turtles?
A: When we were waiting for the sea turtles to lay their eggs, we had no idea how long we would have to wait. So while we were waiting in the desert at night, we could only use an infrared light so we wouldn’t scare the sea turtles. That was really interesting because we were studying their reproduction habits which made us really anxious to see them lay their eggs.
