The awkward underdog
If you are a slightly geeky looking 23-year-old in Hollywood, you can bet your salary you'll be cast as one. As one such awkward adolescent, Michael Cera has seamlessly moved from TV to film, all the while playing the exact same character every single time.
Arrested Development, Superbad, Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, Cera will always volunteer for the part of the hoodie-wearing nerd, so long as filming starts after his paper round. The demand is high for him, so much so that Cera has inspired other actors to follow in his Converse footsteps, with the likes of Jesse Einsenberg being typecast as "the guy who rips off Michael Cera's typecast."
