Prince William married Kate Middleton on the 29th of April, 2011 at Westminster Abbey in London - the venue also for his mother Princess Diana's funeral in September 1997. It was a public holiday in the UK on the day that Prince William and Kate Middleton tied the knot and more than a million people descended on central London for the occasion.
Kate Middleton wore a wedding dress designed by Sarah Burton at British brand Alexander McQueen while Prince William commissioned military tailors Kashket and Partners to make his scarlet Irish Guards colonel's uniform. Middleton also did her own make-up and did not use a make-up artist.
