The first of Hoffman's two Academy Awards came for his role in Kramer vs. Kramer, in which he gives a tender performance as a divorcee father, which mirrored the divorce he himself was going through at the time.

By far Hoffman's best acting can be seen in Tootsie.

I watched it at least 5 times and still quite entriqued by him in his ability to play both male and female.
