San Francisco’s favourite trio, Train performed at KL live last Saturday with an inspiring performance that melted the hearts of thousands.
Train, consisting of Patrick Monahan, Jimmy Stafford and Scott Underwood made a name for themselves back at 1998 with the song "Meet Virginia". Since then, they have released chart topping singles like "Drops of Jupiter", "Calling All Angels" and "Hey Soul Sister".
There wasn't much of a wait as Train was already on stage performing at 8.45 pm. They opened up with "50 Ways to Say Goodbye" of their new record, "California 37". It was followed by upbeat love songs like "This will be My Year" and "If it's Love".
It was song after song of catchy tunes where everyone can sing along to, from "Calling All Angels" to "Drive By" and "Hey Soul Sister". At one point, they even played a cover of Journey's "Don't Stop Believing". Patrick Monahan's amazing stage presence just left the crowd wanting more; he even took a fan's camera and took a photo with them while singing.
Towards the end of the concert, Patrick Monahan took up a guitar, introduced the whole band to the crowd while all of them signed the guitar and said he was going to give that guitar to a fan that has inspired him and the band thru out the night. A lucky young fan got chosen and she was invited to go on stage and hang out while the band played and thanked her for being an inspiration.
This is, by far, one of the most inspiring concerts we have seen in this era. Patrick Monahan's voice and stage presence was off the hook. Even after performing 17 songs, it didn't seem like it was enough. Here's hoping the band will be setting foot in Malaysia again in the near future.
Earlier that day, we sat down with Patrick, Jimmy and Scott of Train and talked to them about California 37 and more. Read on to find out more about the guys from Train.
