It is one of the rarer nights that celebrities can (and probably should) leave their houses in designer haute couture to walk the red carpet of one of the top annual social events in New York City.
The steps of The Metropolitan Museum of Art were swamped with celebrities and anyone seemingly important from the singing, acting and fashion industry. Nicknamed the "Oscars of the East Coast," the 2012 Met Ball saw everyone from Rosie Huntington-Whiteley to Sarah Jessica Parker. "Gossip Girl" stars Kirsten Bell and Ed Westwick may have been all too familiar with the dress code and venue of function.
