A true story of two men who should never have met - a quadriplegic aristocrat who was injured in a paragliding accident and a young man from the projects. The paralyzed millionaire forges an unlikely friendship with the Senegalese parolee he hired to take care of him. Two totally different worlds are going to mix themselves : Vivaldi and Earth Wind and Fire, fine letters and argot, suit and tracksuit... and create a unique friendship.
Review By Bernard Lee
"The Intouchables", is a story of 2 extreme ends of the richest and poorest whom meet under the most unlikeliest of circumstances. This is the catch, the movie itself is based off the true events surrounding Philippe Pozzo di Borgo played by François Cluze and his ever devoted caretaker, Abdel Sellou played by Omar Sy as Driss in the movie.
Phiippe Pozzo di Borgo known simply as Philippe throughout the film, is a wealthy quadriplegic that is in search for a caretaker to attend to his everyday needs. In comes Driss, who even without the intention of getting the job (he is merely there to show his effort to continue receiving his welfare benefits), bags it. This is where the path of the 2 extreme ends magically intervenes.
Driss, a young poor man from the ghetto manages to fill in all the empty gaps that Philippe has left out for a long time after his accident as well as his loss of his wife. Philippe's life is transformed by his newly found friendship with Driss, opening his eyes to hope and love once again. The friendship of Philippe and Driss is the foundation of the movie, moving between the different phases of friendship. Writer-directors, Olivier Nakache and Eric Toledano have enriched what might at first appear as a sentimental movie of a handicapped man, to a richly drawn comedy drama.
The international French films has dominated the global box office and to date, have already been snapped up by Harvey Weinstein for an English remake.|Though the film might have held back a bit on the sentimental values, "Intouchables" does not deny the values of living your life to the fullest and proves to be an awesome feel good movie.
A fantasy movie with fairytale beings battling to keep the world of nature alive.
The three hunks - Vin Diesel, Paul Walker and Dwayne Johnson return to an all-stars cast of this high-octane action movie.
